PROJECT SUPPORT
This is a cross-border Czech-Austrian project called Central European Jazz Showcase and supported by the Interreg program Austria-Czech Republic.
Project number KPF-02-155
The Central European Jazz Showcase (CEJS) will take place on 28-29, June 2021 at the Husa na provázku Theater in Brno. During the two-day festival bands from the Czech Republic and Austria will perform. Bands will partly be selected from online applications by a jury of experts, and partly nominated by JazzFestBrno and Mladí ladí jazz festivals. CEJS is loosely connected to the highly successful 2018 contest of young jazz bands called Central European Jazz Competition organized by JazzFestBrno in cooperation with its long-term Austrian partner Jazzwerkstatt Poysdorf. Bands will perform for a typical showcase audience – predominantly consisting of program directors for festivals, music clubs and concert halls and journalists. The event will also be open to the public.
THE PROJECT AIMS TO SUPPORT THE MUSIC EXPORT, TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEETING AND EXPERIENCE EXCHANGE OF EMERGING JAZZ ARTISTS AND TO SUPPORT PRESENTATION OF THEIR WORK IN FRONT OF THE CULTURE ORGANISERS OF BOTH COUNTRIES.
Bands can apply for the showcase from May 12 to July 31, 2020 using a simple form. The expert jury, which is composed of both domestic and foreign promoters, will select those who advance to the second round – that being the showcase of the festival itself. The organizers will announce the results of the first round at the end of August.
The Central European Jazz Showcase project is possible thanks to the support of the European Regional Development Fund – Small Projects Fund Austria – Czech Republic. The project is jointly prepared by JAZZFESTBRNO o.p.s and Jazzwerkstatt Poysdorf.
