After studying classical music and composition at the Prague Conservatory Kristina graduated from the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Prague, specialising in jazz piano. She won the 1st prize in the composer’s jazz competition that took place in Czech Republic in 2016. Her trio (Jan Feco on bass and Marek Urbanek on drums) got into the finals of 2016 Euroradio Jazz Competition in the Netherlands. Kristina is also a winner of the 2017 Powiew Mlodegu Jazzu in Poland, where she received an individual award for her piano playing. Kristina’s trio released under the austrian label Alessa Records a debut album EMA29 in 2017 which received a lot of success in their home country as well as internationally. Project Event Horizon plays creative jazz, reflecting Kristina’s earlier classical music studies with an emphasis on melodies, modern rhythms and electronic elements. Their new album Love and Passion will be released in December 2020 in Austria, again under the same label. In 2021 Kristina Barta’s Event Horizon project will perform at the Jazzahead! in Bremen.
